An overview of Grown Ups
Starring Adam Sandler, Grown-Ups is a buddy-comedy film that was released in the year 2010. Besides Sandler, the film also stars actors like Salma Hayek, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph, Steve Buscemi, among others. Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions produced the film. Sony Pictures under the Columbia Pictures banner took care of the worldwide distribution.

Adam Sandler as Lenny Feder
Being one of the biggest stand-up comedians and comedic actors in this generation, Adam Sandler needs no introduction. Starting his career as a cast member on the show Saturday Night Live he made a smooth transition from supporting roles to lead roles with Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. With huge successes, like The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, Mr.Deeds, Click, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, and the Hotel Transylvania series and its sequels, Adam Sandler soon became one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
Kevin James as Eric Lamansoff
Kevin James is another well-known actor and stand-up comedian. He gained his fame with the CBS sitcom The King Of Queens as the lead character Doug Heffernan. Besides starring in the sitcom he starred in films as a supporting lead role or parallel lead roles in films like Hitch, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Grown Ups, and its sequel, The Dilemma, Hotel Transylvania and its sequels. Besides these films he has starred in leading roles in films like Zookeeper, Here Comes The Boom, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and its sequel, as well. His recent performance as Dominick in the independent film Becky fetched positive reviews.
Salma Hayek as Roxanne Chase-Feder
Salma Hayek is one of the most recognized Hollywood actresses in today’s generation. She started her career with a Mexican Telenovela Teresa in 1989. After that, she gained fame with appearances in films like Desperado, Once Upon A Time in Mexico. From Dusk Till Dawn, Dogma, Wild Wild West, etc. She gained critical acclaim for her role as Frida Kahlo in Frida. After her role in Frida, she starred in films like Bandidas, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and its sequel. She will be seen as Ajax in the upcoming Marvel superhero film The Eternals.
Chris Rock as Kurt McKenzie
Chris Rock is one of the most prolific and famous stand-up comedians and actors in the world. Starting his career as a standup comedian, he too joined Saturday Night Live in the early 90s. He starred in supporting roles in films like Beverly Hills Ninja, Dogma, Sgt. Bilko, Down To Earth, Dr. Dolittle in his early acting career. The animated film Madagascar became his breakout hit as he voiced Marty The Zebra in the film. After Madagascar‘s success, he starred in films like Grown Ups and its sequel, The Longest Yard, Bee Movie, Top Five, Dolemite Is My Name, etc. His most recent role was in the film Spiral, as the lead character of a police detective.
David Spade as Marcus Higgins
David Spade is another renowned comedian-cum-actor. Again a Saturday Night Live alumni, he gained the majority of his fame through his stand-up gigs. Although he started in supporting roles during the 90s, his claim to fame came with the 2001 comedy Joe Dirt. Since then Spade has starred in numerous comedy films like Dickie Roberts, Grandma’s Boy and animated features like the Hotel Transylvania series.
Rob Schnieder as Rob Hillard
A regular feature on Saturday Night Live in the 90s, Schneider has starred in films like Demolition Man, The Waterboy as well as The Hot Chick and The Animal. The Deuce Bigalow series has been a major source of fame for Schnieder. He has been a consistent feature in Adam Sandler’s films right till his latest release Hubie Halloween. Besides these, he is popularly known for his anti-vaccination stance regarding Covid-19 and is the father of musician Elle King.
Grown Ups: a brief summary
There are five friends, namely Lenny [Adam Sandler], a successful Hollywood talent agent; Eric [Kevin James], an unemployed furniture worker; Kurt [Chris Rock], a househusband; Marcus [David Spade], a slacker; Rob [Rob Schneider], a hippie who has had three failed marriages. They reunite for the funeral of their basketball coach Bobby “Buzzer” Fernando. While the reunion brings back good memories, the friends decide to extend their stay as a vacation with all their families present. This decision results in comedic chaos. Indicating in a final showdown with all of the friends returning for a final basketball match alongside their old childhood rivals.
