Dexter: New Blood – The expectations for the miniseries!

Eight years after the finale aired, Dexter is getting a revival. Titled Dexter: New Blood, the miniseries will star Michael C. Hall in his original role of Dexter. Clyde Philips will also be returning as the showrunner. Showtime announced the limited series on October 14, 2020. Much of the original cast will also be returning to the revival, along with many new additions to the cast.

The real purpose of the special event is to provide a new series finale to the series. Dexter seemingly faked his death in a boating accident in the original finale, fled to Oregon, and started living as a lumberjack. The original series finale, episode 12 of the eighth season, “Remember The Monsters?” was panned by both audience and critics alike. As a result, the revival’s writing crew has announced that the new conclusion would be radically different.

Showrunner Clyde Philips has said that a ten-year time skip will occur between the original finale and New Blood. The time skip exists as Philips, who left the series after season 4, was unsure about the original intent of the finale. As a result of these factors, Philips has announced that the miniseries will not function as season 9 of Dexter.

In the ten years of him faking his death, Dexter has moved to the fictional town of Iron Lake, New York. He lives there under the fake name of Jim Lindsay and lives with his girlfriend Angela Bishop, the chief of police. For all these years, Dexter has suppressed his serial killer urges. However, a string of incidents around Iron Lake is now threatening Dexter’s Dark Passenger to reveal itself.

The world at large believes Dexter Morgan died in a tragic boating accident, and in a way the world at large isn’t wrong. Far from the life he knew, living under a false name in the small town of Iron Lake, NY, he’s successfully tamped down his Dark Passenger for nearly 10 years. With a normal job and a Chief of Police girlfriend, it seems he’s got life under control – until his son shows up and turns his world upside down. Rattled, Dexter yields to his homicidal urges and soon finds himself on a collision course with a very dangerous local.
